Description
An angel is generally understood as a spiritual or supernatural being present in many religious and cultural traditions, often serving as a messenger, guide, or protector, and acting as an intermediary between the divine and humans. Typically non-physical, angels are sometimes believed to take visible or human form, delivering messages, warnings, or divine guidanceāsuch as Gabriel announcing the birth of Jesus in Christianity. They are also thought to watch over individuals, offering protection, support, or inspiration, with some angels tasked with enforcing justice, maintaining cosmic order, or guiding souls after death. Many traditions organize angels into hierarchies or choirs, like archangels, seraphim, and cherubim, each with specific roles and powers. Examples of angels appear across religions: in Christianity and Judaism, figures like Michael and Raphael protect and guide; in Islam, angels such as Jibreel and Israfil deliver revelation and signal the Day of Judgment; and in esoteric or mystical beliefs, angels may represent archetypal energies, spiritual guides, or forces of nature. In essence, angels are beings of light, guidance, and protection, bridging the gap between the spiritual and physical worlds.
